Stranga starptautiskā konferencē aprāj Zurofu

2002. gada nogalē Latvijas Universitātes profesors Aivars Stranga Jeruzalemē piedalījās starptautiskā konferencē par vēsturnieku komisiju darbu holokausta izpētē, kur viņam notikusi asa domu apmaiņa ar Simona Vīzentāla centra Jeruzalemes biroja direktoru Efraimu Zurofu.

Kā pastāstīja Stranga, tā bija akadēmiska konference, kuru rīkoja Pasaules ebreju kongress, Jeruzalemes holokausta memoriāls un pētniecības komplekss "Jad Vašem" un organizācija, kas nodarbojas ar ebreju īpašumu atgūšanu.

Konferencē piedalījās vēsturnieku komisiju pārstāvji no Šveices, ASV, Beļģijas, Francijas, Vācijas, Latvijas, Lietuvas un citām valstīm. Kolēģi atzinīgi novērtējuši pēc Latvijas Valsts prezidenta iniciatīvas izveidotās vēsturnieku komisijas veikumu, kura sagatavojusi jau septiņus apjomīgus dokumentu un pētījumu krājumus par padomju un nacistu zvērībām.

Zurofa uzstāšanās, pēc Strangas vārdiem, bijusi ļoti emocionāla un agresīva. Zurofs apgalvojis, ka Latvijā un Lietuvā nekas netiek darīts, lai vajātu un sauktu pie atbildības noziedzniekus, kas vainojami holokaustā pret ebrejiem, tiekot vajāti "nevainīgi sarkanie partizāni", bet pētījumi tiekot veikti, tikai lai "aizmālētu acis NATO". Zurofam arī neesot pieņemams, ka Latvijas un Lietuvas vēsturnieki "liek vienlīdzības zīmi" starp nacistu un padomju noziegumiem.

Stranga uzskata, ka Zurofa izteikumi tonalitātes ziņā daudz neatpaliek no antisemītu agresivitātes un "cilvēkos vairo nepatiku". "Zurofs atražo stereotipus par latviešiem un lietuviešiem kā ebreju šāvējiem," uzskata profesors Stranga.
